Prepare for the DILF, your very first French diploma
Starting French from scratch, or almost? That's exactly what the DILF is for. This diploma certifies the A1.1 level, the very first step in learning French, built around simple everyday situations. At Frenchee, we guide you step by step, without stress and at your own pace.
How we prepare you
- ✓We start with a gentle check-in to figure out your real level, with no judgement.
- ✓Your teacher then focuses on the essential everyday French: introducing yourself, asking questions, understanding time, numbers and places.
- ✓We put a lot of emphasis on speaking practice, since it's at the heart of the DILF and often the most reassuring part.
- ✓Step by step, you build confidence through simple, supportive role-play situations.
- ✓Before the exam, we practise with mock activities close to the real test parts so you arrive calm and ready on the day.
The exam format
- Listening: following simple instructions and everyday information
- Speaking: introducing yourself, giving personal details, interacting in common situations
- Reading: recognising very simple words and written messages (signs, forms, short notices)
- Writing: copying or completing basic information (name, address, date, numbers)
- Responding to real everyday situations (shopping, appointments, simple errands)
Who is it for?
The DILF is designed for absolute beginners and newly-arrived migrants, especially adults with little or no prior schooling in French. It's the ideal starting point for building solid foundations before going further.
Recognition of the diploma
The DILF (Diplôme initial de langue française) is delivered by France Éducation international, under the authority of the French Ministry of Education. It certifies the A1.1 level, the first stage of French, just below A1. It is often the first step on an integration path, before the DELF A1 or A2, and it is valid for life.
